Introduction to our business

Kathmandu is a little part of Asia in the heart of Chicago`s business district. We offer unique blend of traditional Nepali/Indian cuisine with a modern hint . It is a perfect place to get away from everyday hassles and relax, try real Asian food like Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Tikka Masala or Briyani without need of travelling. Escape from this crazy world at least for one night, you know you deserve it!!!

brochure

I choose a brochure of Mexican Restaurant called "El Ranchito", located on 2829 N. Milwakee, Chicago, IL. I think it is very effective and informative. First, on the first page it tells all contact information, hours of operations, name of website, and all specials offers "El Ranchito" provides for its customers. It has a little picture which explains specific of cuisine(Spanish). Other part of the brochure shows us full menu, divided by the sections like breakfast, appetizers, drinks, entrees, deserts, etc. It helps us easy to navigate through the menu and go straight to the item you interested in. At the same time there are colorful pictures of traditional Spanish dishes with names written under them, which allows us to see what to expect in the restaurant and also boost our appetite even before we visit the place.

BTS2 draft

1) How are you planing to use a product?

I`m planning to use Modiv Shopper device within a company. The best way is provide Modiv Shopper for every customer at JewelOsco in order to influence shoppers` behavior and increase sales.

2) Who will be effected by the use of the product?

It will beneficial for both parties. Customers will have easiest access to the coupons and sales information, will always have best prices and will save time at checkout point. Employer will be able to cut cost on employees` salaries and target bigger segment of market.

3) What are some foreseeable costs?

Major cost will include: buying Modiv Shopper devices, money on advertising.

Outline of internal proposal
Introduction.
Modiv Shopper will play an important role in controling sales and influencing customers` behavior. It is a possibility for us to cut cost on such expences as salaries and will attract customers looking for ways to save in present economic situation.
I`m seeking approval for a project study whether replacing some labor force with Modiv Shopper device will reduce costs and improve store`s sales.
Proposed Tasks
1. Investigate the extent of the problem by calculating labor expences.
2. Investigate costs of Modiv Shopper and all expences connected with it.
3. Compare them both and show how Modiv Shopper is better and what will projected profits be.
prepare a cpmpleteon report.

BTS 1 draft

1 Cindy works in the small advertising agency for five years. She started her career in this company right after college as a graphic designer and made all the through to the art director position. She is creative, hard-working person and have always thought that her efforts were appreciated by the company. Last year was very successful for the agency and employer decided to hire additional workers to handle the growing business, including assistant for the Cindy. She was happy about some extra help and soon became friends with her new assistant, Josh, a recent graduate from college. One day during regular conversation Cindy asked Josh about his salary. She was really surprised to found out that it was the same as hers: $39000 a year. Cindy was really upset and feels not appreciated. She thought that it happened because she is a woman and that she was discriminated. Her position is higher, she has more responsibilities and big relevant work experience, but her salary is the same as Josh`s. She doesn`t know what is the best step to take and is totally confused and disappointed.

2. This scenario is unethical because Cindy doesn`t receive a fair pay for her job. Her job performance is excellent, she is in the one of the leading positions, but her salary is the same as Josh`s, who just graduated from college, doesn`t have any experience in advertising industry and has less job responsibilities. She thinks that the real reason is her gender and the employer is discriminating her. More important, there is no guarantee that this situation won`t happened in the future at other job. Some actions should be taken, but Cindy is too confused and upset at the moment to find the best solution.

1. E-mail to Allison
Dear Allison,

I understand you reaction, but your e-mail to Ken is probably not the most effective way to eliminate the problem. On the other hand, he is an important part of our group and the project can`t be fully finished without Ken`s participation. I suggest to calm down and then talk to Ken face to face. Our goal is to explain Ken without blaming him the importance of working collaboratively on this catalog. Probably he does not fully understand how his behavior slows down group productivity. He needs better organization of his time in order to be more punctual. A better way to reach an agreement is to suggest a set of rules we all should follow during our work on e-catalog, like: everyone should come to the meetings and do it on time; we should devote certain amount of time to the project and never come unprepared; in order to respect our dedication and hard work, no cell phones should be used during the meetings.

Let`s try our best to avoid a conflict and concentrate on results. We should talk to Ken as soon as we can. Answer what you think about my idea,

Elena.

2. Memo to the Colby Larson

To: Ms. Colby Larson

Green Flag Solutions` Vice President of Development

Re: Interdisciplinary teamDevelopment of e-catalog for Brooks

Dear Ms. Larson,

As you know, Allison,Ken and I were assigned by you to develop an e-catalog for the Brooks request. We appreciate your trust and do our best. Unfortunately, Ken, customer sales representative, does not dedicate enough time and efforts to the project. He already has missed two out of three meetings, has been late and unprepared to another one. Allison and I tried to resolve the conflict personally with Ken, but he did not respond well to our communication. It seems like the project is going to be slowed down if Ken`s behavioral pattern will continue.

As a prove of existing problem I attached a few e-mails which reflect our attempts to work collaboratively with Ken and his responses.

We would really be grateful for your help in resolving this conflict so our performance as a team won`t suffer.

Sincerely,

Elena

Preparing for an Interview

1) Tell me about yourself
a. This short question seems easy but requires organizational skills, ability to show your strengths and best qualities in a short answer. Another rationale is to tell something interviewer might be doubtful about considering you for a job, like why do you have gaps in employment history or other background.
b. I`m Elena and originally I am from Russia. I came to US three years ago to pursue high education and future career goals. Currently I am a senior student in East-West university, business administration major. Also I have work experience as customer relations manager in ChicagoAutoImpex dealership, where I was dealing with customers from many countries. I am result-oriented, energetic and responsible person always looking for ways for improvement. Very interested in internship opportunity in customer relations in your company.

2) Why do you want to work for our company?
a. This question shows your goals. Also interviewer wants to see how well you prepared your homework, did you research a company, its politics and issues.
b. I think that it will be a great opportunity for me to work for such professional and well known organization. It is a world class company. The customer relations internship is a great chance to pursue my career goals. Also I would like to expand my knowledge and experience as well as contribute to the company.

3) Why should we hire you?
a. Interviewer is asking if you qualified for job, how can you prove it. Also it shows your truly interest in this position.
b. As you see from my resume, I have a strong professional background in the customer relations field. I provided excellent service for more than two years for people all over the world. Being a student in business major, I learned necessarily management, marketing skills which I hope I will use in your company. This position seems perfect for me and is a step further. Your organization will benefit from young but experienced person.

4) Are you a team player?
a. Ability to work with a team is a very important factor, especially for this big organization. Interviewer wants to make sure will fit in this position, which requires group projects.
b. Yes, I am a team player. In all my jobs, even not related with my present career, I had to work with different groups of people. I always enjoyed working together for the best results. For example, when I was a distributor in cosmetic company in Russia, I organized my own group of 20 consultants, where we shared our idea and increased our sales on 45% in a year.

5) Do you have any questions for me?
a. Rationale for this question is simple: if you don`t have questions, you are not really interested in the position. It is also a chance to clear all doubts you still have in the process of interview.
b. Could you explain your organizational structure?
What are the day-to-day responsibilities of this job?
Who will review my performance? How often?
Can you describe an ideal employee?
